[Notice] Traffic Control & Public Transport Expansion for 2026 BTS 'ARIRANG' at Gwanghwamun

To welcome the return of BTS, the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency are prioritizing safety for the performance day. Major traffic controls and extended public transportation hours will be implemented around the Gwanghwamun area.

ARMY and all citizens visiting the site are kindly requested to check the following details.

1. Road Traffic Control Zones and Schedule

Key arterial roads around Gwanghwamun Square will be restricted to accommodate large-scale crowd movement before and after the show.

  • Restriction Period: [Performance Day], 2026 | 13:00 – 02:00 (Next Day)

    • Subject to flexible changes based on real-time conditions.

  • Full Closure Zones:

    • Sejong-daero: Both directions between Gwanghwamun Junction and Sejong-daero Junction.

    • Sajik-ro · Yulgok-ro: Partial closure from the front of the Government Complex Seoul to 십자각 (Dong-sipjagak) Junction.

  • Detour Routes: Extreme congestion is expected on Jong-ro, Ujeongguk-ro, and Sinmun-ro. Please refrain from using private vehicles if possible.

2. Extended Subway Hours and Increased Frequency

To prevent overcrowding during late-night hours, operation times for major Seoul subway lines will be extended.

  • Applicable Lines: Line 1, Line 2, Line 3, and Line 5.

  • Extended Hours: Until 02:00 (Next Day) (based on the time of arrival at the final destination).

  • Peak Interval Operations: From the end of the show (22:00) until 01:00, train intervals will be shortened to 5–10 minutes.

  • ⚠️ Important Note: If Gwanghwamun Station (Line 5) or Gyeongbokgung Station (Line 3) becomes dangerously overcrowded, trains may bypass these stations without stopping. In such cases, please use City Hall Station (Line 1 & 2) or Jonggak Station (Line 1).

3. City Bus and Shuttle Services

  • Bus Detours: All city bus routes passing through Sejong-daero will be rerouted to nearby roads (such as Ujeongguk-ro).

  • Night Buses (N-Buses): Night buses heading to major hubs like Gangnam, Hongdae, and Jamsil will operate with double the usual frequency.

  • Temporary Shuttles: For information on the "BTS Exclusive Free Shuttle" running from major Seoul parking hubs to the Gwanghwamun vicinity, please check the notices within the Weverse app.

4. How to Check Real-Time Information

Traffic conditions can change every minute. Please stay updated through the following platforms:

💡 Pro-Tips for Visitors

  • Top-up your T-money in advance: Stations will be extremely crowded after the show. Recharging your transit card upon arrival will save you a lot of stress.

  • Walking is often faster: Instead of Gwanghwamun Station, getting off at City Hall or Anguk Station and walking for 10–15 minutes may actually be quicker.

  • Ttareungyi (Seoul Bike) Restrictions: Rental racks within the performance zone will be temporarily closed for safety.
